Qué es la Marihuana?

La marihuana es un alucinógeno o psicodisléptico  que produce depresión del Sistema Nervioso Central  (cerebro) causando alteraciones psíquicas que se manifiestan como alucinaciones y percepciones erróneas en espacio y tiempo.

La persona que se encuentra bajos los efectos de la marihuana percibe el paso del tiempo de manera lenta y calcula mal las distancias lo cual le dificulta la conducción de vehículos automotores y de maquinaria compleja.

La marihuana contiene mas productos químicos entre los cuales están canabinoides, siendo el principal de ellos el delta-9- tetrahidocanabinol, conocido como THC y el cual es el responsable de la dependencia.

Al fumar marihuana se producen mas productos químicos por el proceso de combustión, productos estos, que al igual que el cigarrillo, afectan el árbol respiratorio produciendo: ovulitis, laringotraqueitis, bronquitis crónica, enfisema y cancer del pulmón.  También se han encontrado estallidos del pulmón y mayor predisposición para sufrir infecciones como la tuberculosos y otras más raras como las producidas por hongos tales como el asperigilius.

Los canabinoides se acumulan en las células grasas principalmente en el cerebro de los hombres y en lo ovarios de las mujeres, en donde permanecen por largo tiempo y producen graves alteraciones; en los hombres  ocasionan disminución de las hormonas y alteraciones en los espermatozoides, y en las mujeres se presentan alteraciones en todas las hormonas, causando tanto en hombres como en mujeres infertilidad y en los hijos mayor numero de malformaciones congénitas.

En el cerebro se ha encontrado que produce disminución de la actividad de algunos neurotransmisores afectando y alterando las conductas agresivas, sexuales y de la alimentación, produce disminución del nivel de alerta y de la capacidad de almacenar en la memoria con los consiguientes problemas en el aprendizaje.  Todo lo anterior se traduce en los cambios de conducta que presenta la persona adicta o que se encuentra bajo los efectos de la marihuana como  la risa o llanto incontrolable, el aumento de apetito y de la sed.

La marihuana también afecta el sistema cardiovascular, de ahí los ojos rojos de quien la consume y las bajas de la presión arterial con marcos y taquicardia (corazón acelerado).

El consumo crónico de ella produce alteraciones de carácter mental como lo es el llamado síndrome amotivacional en el cual la persona pierde el interés por las cosas que antes le importaban, la familia, el trabajo o el estudio, el cuidado personal y su propia autoestima, estos pacientes se asemejan a un paciente esquizofrénico, abandonan sus responsabilidad y vagan sin rumbo fijo ni metas claras por la vida.

Todo lo anterior no permite desvirtuar el mito que tan frecuentemente escuchamos de muchas personas quienes queriendo justificar su consumo manifiestan que por ser la marihuana una planta natural, no hace daño, o si lo hace es menos dañina que las otras drogas.

La marihuana produce dependencia física y psíquica, afecta órganos tan importantes como el cerebro, el corazón, los pulmones, los riñones, los testículos y los ovarios.  Es en muchos casos la puerta de entrada a otras drogas, causa alteraciones congénitas en los hijos de los consumidores y finalmente lleva al consumidor a un estado de abandono tal que es equiparable a la mas grande las enfermedades mentales como la esquizofrenia.
